The role
As a domestic volunteer, you will assist the team with the the day-to-day cleaning and laundry services at the hospice as agreed by the Domestic Team Leader, including clinical, public and office spaces. The post holder is part of a team, offering a high quality, flexible and customer focused service.
What you will be doing - key tasks
Carry out systematic cleaning as required with the use of machinery and/or Microfibre cleaning system
Practice safe handling of chemicals, always following manufacturer’s instructions and ensuring COSHH regulations are adhered to
Use the recycling and general waste facilities for the safe disposal of unwanted products and equipment
Receive, check off supplies and annotate delivery notes where there are shortages or breakages
Cooperate when new methods of work are introduced
Undertake safety inspections of equipment as required and maintain accurate records reporting any defects as necessary
How we will support you
We can offer you ‘taster’ sessions with the team so you can see what volunteering for us will be like. Once you decide you wish to continue volunteering, we will ensure you are shown how to carry out each of the tasks and are fully trained in the jobs you do with guidance from the Domestic Team Leader. We will ensure that you familiarise yourself and comply with the Health and Safety Policy, Fire Procedure, Manual Handling, GDPR and any other training where appropriate. It is also extremely important that you maintain strict confidentiality at all times and we ask that you adhere to the no smoking policy.

What are the minimum requirements?
You need to have the physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role including safe moving and handling
Availability
We have flexible shifts available throughout the week from Monday - Friday to suit
