Are you able to help assist in tasks necessary for the successful running of the shop such as sorting donations or working the till? If so you could be who we are looking for to support our fabulous stores across Mid Essex.

When can you help?

Flexible opportunities are available throughout the week across mid-Essex at any one of our stores.  You could offer one morning or a whole day a week – or even a couple of days, and we can work around your own personal responsibilities

What will you be doing:

The role is varied but typical tasks include:-

*        Preparing items for sale e.g. steaming and tagging clothes and putting them on a hanger ready for sale

*        Helping and engaging with customers who are dropping off donations

*        Answering telephone calls (if necessary

*        Gift Aid labelling and promoting Gift Aid to customers

*        Helping and serving customers on the shop floor

What are we looking for?

You don’t need any specific skills or experience to volunteer but a can-do attitude and a positive outlook are key!  It can involve lifting bags of donations or working on the till and we will work with you for tasks that you are comfortable with but you do need to have the physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role including safe moving and handling of donations.

How we will support you

We can offer you ‘taster’ sessions in order for you to see what volunteering with us will be like.  Once you decide you wish to continue volunteering, we will ensure you are shown how to carry out each of the tasks and are fully trained in the jobs you do with guidance from the store manager. We will ensure that you are aware of and have training in all required procedures and policies.

What are the minimum requirements?

You need to have the physical ability to fulfil the requirements of the role including safe moving and handling of donations.

What you can get from volunteering:

  • A chance to work in a friendly team, make new friends and meet a diverse group of people
  • The ability to develop your confidence and interpersonal skills
  • To gain valuable retail work experience to add onto your CV alongside new team skills
